915 Broadway, Albany, NY
HISTORY
Originally constructed in 1881, 915 Broadway began its existence as the manufacturing plant for the Marshall & Wendell Pianoforte Manufacturing Company, makers of some of the finest pianos of the 19th century. In the years since, the site, including two buildings that were razed long ago, has been the home of the Standard Emery Wheel Company, a train wheel manufacturer, printers, a tobacco warehouse, and a variety of other uses.
CHARACTER
The interior of 915 Broadway retains many original details from its Marshall & Wendell days, including factory-worn hardwood floors, original track doors and counter-weighted doors, as well as more subtle details such as exposed brick featuring gas lines that once fueled the building's lamps. These details, coupled with high ceilings and natural light from abundant large windows, provide for an ideal creative work environment.
LOCATION
915 Broadway is in the heart of North Albany's thriving "Warehouse District", an area that has benefited from adaptive reuse projects in recent years. It is minutes from downtown Albany's central business district and state offices, I-90, and I-787, allowing for a quick, easy commute. Additionally, the building offers free on-site tenant parking, a valuable asset as the area rapidly evolves into Albany's most exciting neighborhood.
